Abstract/ Paper Submission

By clicking the “Abstract Submission” button, you will be redirected to the Microsoft CMT platform to submit the abstract (template of the abstract could be downloaded by clicking the “Template of abstract” button. File formats including Doc, Docx and PDF are acceptable). Guidelines for the submission process:

  • Step 1 Link ISDEIV2025 to your Microsoft CMT account
    If you don’t have a Microsoft CMT account, register first (Register->Create New Account->Filling in the required information->register->Email verification) Logging into your CMT account. In the Conference List page, clicking “All Conferences” and add ISDEIV2025 to your conference list. The page will redirect to the “Author Console” Page for paper submission (Please confirm ISDEIV2025 is now showed up at the upright corner)
  • Step 2 Submit your Abstract
    In the “Author Console” page, clicking “Create New Submission” and submit the title, abstract and authors’ information. It is strongly encouraged to submit the abstract in file with the format of the template

    Awards

    1. Walter P. Dyke Award

    Purpose of establishment: For Distinguished Work on Discharges and Electrical Insulation in Vacuum.
    Award Information: The Walter P. Dyke Award, endowed by the Toshiba Corporation, will be given to a person identified by the Awards Committee for an outstanding body of significant contributions in the field of electrical discharges or electrical insulation in vacuum. The Walter P. Dyke Award Adress is given by the awardee during the symposium.

    2. ISDEIV Best Paper Award - Japan Prize

    Purpose of establishment: For the Most Significant Contribution Presented During the Past Symposium.
    Award Information: The ISDEIV Best Paper Award – Japan Prize was established during the ISDEIV 2006 in Matsue, Japan. Arranged by the Japanese Local Organizing Committee, funds were pooled from various sponsors to establish this award recognizing the best, most significant contribution presented during the last symposium. Since one would not know before the end of the symposium which presentation deserves this honor, the recipient is selected based on a corresponding journal paper published after the symposium and the award is presented at the next symposium.

    3. Paul A. Chatterton Young Investigator Award

    Purpose of establishment: For an Outstanding Achievement of a Young Investigator in the Field of Discharges and Electrical Insulation in Vacuum.
    Award Information: The Paul A. Chatterton Young Investigator Award, sponsored by ABB Calor-Emag Schaltanlagen AG, will recognize the outstanding achievement of a young investigator based on the quality of the paper and presentation at the Symposium.

    4. Best Video Award

    Purpose of establishment: For the Best Video Presentation at the Symposium.
    Award Information: The Best Video Award, sponsored by Vacuum Interrupters Limited (VIL), honors modern, instructive presentation of science and is awarded for the best video presentation at the Symposium. It was awarded for the first time at the 27th ISDEIV 2016.
    Previous winners:
    2016 S. V. Klochko, A. A. Logachev, and I. N. Poluyanova for their presentation "Molten Material Movement on the Anode Surface in High-Current Vacuum Arc".
    2018 Eiji Kaneko, University of Ryukyu, Japan, "What causes NSDD? Observation of micro-particle induced breakdown just after high current interruption in vacuum".
    2021 Benjamin Weber, Technische Universität Braunschweig, Braunschweig, Germany, "Automated evaluation of movement and appearance of vacuum arcs".


    VISA

    Depending on your citizenship, you may need to obtain a visa before coming to China. For detailed information, please visit the website of the China Visa Application Service Center.

    It is the delegate’s responsibility to investigate the visa requirements for China and to apply for a visa, if necessary. The conference organizers and/or the Organizing Secretariat will not directly contact embassies and consulates on behalf of visa applicants.

    Visas should be requested at least 4 months before departure as the application process can take several weeks.

    If you need a letter of invitation, please contact conference secretary, and send it with your Copy of Travel Document by email to info@isdeiv2025.org as early as possible, in order to leave plenty of time to process the application. Please do allow 3 working days to process your request. Please be noted that visa letters are only issued to registrants who have already paid their fees. The Organizing Secretariat will return a duly signed and stamped copy of your letter of invitation to you by e-mail.

    The signed and stamped letter of invitation that you will receive establishes the purpose of your trip to China and must be presented to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate where you apply for your visa.

    Please note that the Organizing Secretariat cannot intervene with any Embassy or Consulate office abroad on behalf of participants, so, please begin your visa application process and contact the Chinese Consulate as soon as you decide to attend ISDEIV 2025.
