As a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of China, Sichuan University is a high-level, research-oriented, and comprehensive university in western China. It is a category-A institution in the Double First-Class Initiative of China and is located in Chengdu, a famous historical and cultural city known as the “land of abundance”. Sichuan University consists of the three campuses of Wangjiang, Huaxia, and Jiang’an, covering an area of 4.7 square kilometers and boasting a floor area of 2.8218 square kilometers.
SCU has great potentiality in scientific research. There are in function 9 national key labs and national engineering centers, 5 ministerial (MOE) key labs, 45 provincial key labs, 10 ministerial and provincial centers, 4 key research bases for humanities and social sciences, and 4 clinical research bases at the national level. SCU has undertaken and completed a considerable number of national, ministerial and regional major research projects, and has made many achievements, which are rated first class in China and bear significant international influence. The total value of the equipment applied to teaching, scientific research and medical treatment amounts to about 530 million RMB yuan and the annual publications of research papers exceed 4,000. In 2008, the university was supported with a total of 1.02 billion RMB yuan for scientific research in social science, natural science, engineering and medicine.
Sichuan University offers a wide range of programs in various disciplines, covering the twelve categories of humanities, science, engineering, medicine, economics, management, law, philosophy, agriculture, education, and arts. It consists of 36 discipline-based colleges or departments and School of Overseas Education. As an eligible institute for independent degree conferment review, Sichuan University boasts 52 first-level disciplines granting doctoral degrees, 48 professional-degree programs, and 39 postdoctoral stations. The SCU family has approximately 37,000 full-time undergraduates and 29,000 master’s or doctoral degree candidates. Nearly 3,000 students are from overseas, Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwan of China.

Travelling Around Chengdu
There is no doubt that the top thing to do in Chengdu is to visit a panda sanctuary to view the cute pandas. The Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is the one of the best places to see pandas in Chengdu. There are a lot of pandas in the base. You can watch these cute national treasures at close range in all stages of growth from babies to adults. Besides the Base in Chengdu, the Dujiangyan Panda Base is also a good choice. You can even have an opportunity to be a volunteer there to have a closer experience with pandas, which is really one of unusual things to do in Chengdu.
The best time to visit a panda base is before 10:00 am, since that's their active time. And remember, do not use a photographic flash or feed animals casually.

Beat Traval Time: 3-5 days. The scenic spots in Chengdu are relatively concentrated, and hot food, drink and play can be eliminated in 1-2 days. Jinsha Site Museum and Chengdu Giant panda base are a little far away from the center of Chengdu, so they need to arrange half a day to play. In addition, due to the fast train, you can get to Dujiangyan and Qingchengshan in 30 minutes. Most tourists will also visit these two places in series for 1-2 days.

Famous Scenic Spots in Chengdu
1. Mount Qingcheng
Mount Qingcheng is one of the birthplaces of Taoism in China and one of the famous mountains of Taoism. It is located in the southwest of Dujiangyan City, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. It is called "the Mountain of Dujiangren" in ancient times. It is 68 kilometers away from Chengdu in the east and 10 kilometers southwest of Dujiangyan Water Conservancy Project. The main peak, Lao Xiao Summit, is 1,600 meters above sea level. Among the famous mountains in Sichuan, it is famous with Jianmen's danger, the beauty of Emei and the male of Kui, and has the reputation of "Qingcheng World quiet". Qingcheng Mountain is a famous Chinese historical mountain and national key scenic area, and in 2000, it was included in the World Heritage List together with Dujiangyan as a World cultural Heritage.

2. Dujiangyan Irrigation Project
The Dujiangyan Irrigation Project, built in the Qin Dynasty (221 - 207 BC), is the most complete ancient water conservancy project in China. 3. Wide and narrow alleys

Wide and narrow alleys is located near Changshun Street, Qingyang District, Chengdu City. It is composed of wide alley, narrow alley and well alley arranged in parallel, all of which are ancient courtyard houses with Qingdai tiles. It is also a relatively large Qing Dynasty ancient street left over from Chengdu, and together with Daci Temple and Wenshu Courtyard, it is known as the three protected blocks of Chengdu's historical and cultural cities. |
Chengdu Wuhou Temple, located in the south gate of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, Wuhou Temple, is the only king and minister temple in China, composed of Wuhou Temple, Han Zhaoliet Temple and Huiling, people are accustomed to the three collectively referred to as Wuhou Temple. The main structure of the existing temple except Huiling was rebuilt in 1672 during the reign of Kangxi. Chengdu Wuhou Temple Museum was established in 1984, and was named the first national first-class museum in 2008. |
